FingerMotion (FNGR) Case Study in Short Sale Transactions Published: 2022-10-03
If you're looking for a stock that is a case study in the merits of our new unusual short sales transaction tool (and who isn't?), then FNGR
certainly fits the bill. The company describes itself as a mobile data, services, and big data analytics company. They do a lot of business in China but are headquartered in New York.
Their stock has exploded recently, and if you had been paying attention to our new unusual short sales transaction activity tool, you would not be terribly surprised. Take a look at the chart of FingerMotion.
That's all well and good, you say, but I need to know before these big moves happen!
We have a new tool that is simple yet powerful. We have been collecting short sale transaction data for every stock we cover for quite some time. That's thousands of individual transactions per day for many thousands of stocks. That's a LOT of data. It is beyond the scope of most individual traders and even many small trading firms to manage such large amounts of data. Outsourcing this type of analysis can also be quite expensive. We make this look easy. It's not.
Our program scans our database of stocks after the close every day and looks for unusually large short sale activity. After the close on 9/27 (just a few days ago) our program reported FNGR
as having had an unusually large amount of short selling compared to normal.
The stock closed that day at $1.06. It opened the next morning at $1.05 and did not have crazy high volume, although it was up nicely for the day. As of this writing, FNGR
is at $5.37, which represents an incredible gain from then. The program reported it as having unusually large short selling on 9/28 and 9/30 as well.
